Fringe Benefits of Failure, and the Importance of Imagination

President Faust, members of the Harvard Corporation and the Board of Overseers, members of the faculty, proud parents, and, above all, graates,

The first thing I would like to say is 'thank you.' Not only has Harvard given me an extraordinary honour, but the weeks of fear and nausea I've experienced at the thought of giving this commencement address have made me lose weight. A win-win situation! Now all I have to do is take deep breaths, squint at the red banners and fool myself into believing I am at the world's best-ecated Harry Potter convention.

Delivering a commencement address is a great responsibility; or so I thought until I cast my mind back to my own graation. The commencement speaker that day was the distinguished British philosopher Baroness Mary Warnock. Reflecting on her speech has helped me enormously in writing this one, because it turns out that I can't remember a single word she said. This liberating discovery enables me to proceed without any fear that I might inadvertently influence you to abandon promising careers in business, law or politics for the giddy delights of becoming a gay wizard.

You see? If all you remember in years to come is the 'gay wizard' joke, I've still come out ahead of Baroness Mary Warnock. Achievable goals: the first step towards personal improvement.

Actually, I have wracked my mind and heart for what I ought to say to you today. I have asked myself what I wish I had known at my own graation, and what important lessons I have learned in the 21 years that has expired between that day and this.

I have come up with two answers. On this wonderful day when we are gathered together to celebrate your academic success, I have decided to talk to you about the benefits of failure. And as you stand on the threshold of what is sometimes called 'real life', I want to extol the crucial importance of imagination.

These might seem quixotic or paradoxical choices, but please bear with me.

Looking back at the 21-year-old that I was at graation, is a slightly uncomfortable experience for the 42-year-old that she has become. Half my lifetime ago, I was striking an uneasy balance between the ambition I had for myself, and what those closest to me expected of me.

I was convinced that the only thing I wanted to do, ever, was to write novels. However, my parents, both of whom came from impoverished backgrounds and neither of whom had been to college, took the view that my overactive imagination was an amusing personal quirk that could never pay a mortgage, or secure a pension.

They had hoped that I would take a vocational degree; I wanted to study English Literature. A compromise was reached that in retrospect satisfied nobody, and I went up to study Modern Languages. Hardly had my parents' car rounded the corner at the end of the road than I ditched German and scuttled off down the Classics corridor.

I cannot remember telling my parents that I was studying Classics; they might well have found out for the first time on graation day. Of all subjects on this planet, I think they would have been hard put to name one less useful than Greek mythology when it came to securing the keys to an executive bathroom.

I would like to make it clear, in parenthesis, that I do not blame my parents for their point of view. There is an expiry date on blaming your parents for steering you in the wrong direction; the moment you are old enough to take the wheel, responsibility lies with you. What is more, I cannot criticise my parents for hoping that I would never experience poverty. They had been poor themselves, and I have since been poor, and I quite agree with them that it is not an ennobling experience. Poverty entails fear, and stress, and sometimes depression; it means a thousand petty humiliations and hardships. Climbing out of poverty by your own efforts, that is indeed something on which to pride yourself, but poverty itself is romanticised only by fools.

What I feared most for myself at your age was not poverty, but failure.

At your age, in spite of a distinct lack of motivation at university, where I had spent far too long in the coffee bar writing stories, and far too little time at lectures, I had a knack for passing examinations, and that, for years, had been the measure of success in my life and that of my peers.

I am not ll enough to suppose that because you are young, gifted and well-ecated, you have never known hardship or heartbreak. Talent and intelligence never yet inoculated anyone against the caprice of the Fates, and I do not for a moment suppose that everyone here has enjoyed an existence of unruffled privilege and contentment.

However, the fact that you are graating from Harvard suggests that you are not very well-acquainted with failure. You might be driven by a fear of failure quite as much as a desire for success. Indeed, your conception of failure might not be too far from the average person's idea of success, so high have you already flown academically.

Ultimately, we all have to decide for ourselves what constitutes failure, but the world is quite eager to give you a set of criteria if you let it. So I think it fair to say that by any conventional measure, a mere seven years after my graation day, I had failed on an epic scale. An exceptionally short-lived marriage had imploded, and I was jobless, a lone parent, and as poor as it is possible to be in modern Britain, without being homeless. The fears my parents had had for me, and that I had had for myself, had both come to pass, and by every usual standard, I was the biggest failure I knew.

Now, I am not going to stand here and tell you that failure is fun. That period of my life was a dark one, and I had no idea that there was going to be what the press has since represented as a kind of fairy tale resolution. I had no idea how far the tunnel extended, and for a long time, any light at the end of it was a hope rather than a reality.

So why do I talk about the benefits of failure? Simply because failure meant a stripping away of the inessential. I stopped pretending to myself that I was anything other than what I was, and began to direct all my energy into finishing the only work that mattered to me. Had I really succeeded at anything else, I might never have found the determination to succeed in the one arena I believed I truly belonged. I was set free, because my greatest fear had already been realised, and I was still alive, and I still had a daughter whom I adored, and I had an old typewriter and a big idea. And so rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.

You might never fail on the scale I did, but some failure in life is inevitable. It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all – in which case, you fail by default.

Failure gave me an inner security that I had never attained by passing examinations. Failure taught me things about myself that I could have learned no other way. I discovered that I had a strong will, and more discipline than I had suspected; I also found out that I had friends whose value was truly above rubies.

The knowledge that you have emerged wiser and stronger from setbacks means that you are, ever after, secure in your ability to survive. You will never truly know yourself, or the strength of your relationships, until both have been tested by adversity. Such knowledge is a true gift, for all that it is painfully won, and it has been worth more to me than any qualification I ever earned.

Given a time machine or a Time Turner, I would tell my 21-year-old self that personal happiness lies in knowing that life is not a check-list of acquisition or achievement. Your qualifications, your CV, are not your life, though you will meet many people of my age and older who confuse the two. Life is difficult, and complicated, and beyond anyone's total control, and the humility to know that will enable you to survive its vicissitudes.

You might think that I chose my second theme, the importance of imagination, because of the part it played in rebuilding my life, but that is not wholly so. Though I will defend the value of bedtime stories to my last gasp, I have learned to value imagination in a much broader sense. Imagination is not only the uniquely human capacity to envision that which is not, and therefore the fount of all invention and innovation. In its arguably most transformative and revelatory capacity, it is the power that enables us to empathise with humans whose experiences we have never shared.

One of the greatest formative experiences of my life preceded Harry Potter, though it informed much of what I subsequently wrote in those books. This revelation came in the form of one of my earliest day jobs. Though I was sloping off to write stories ring my lunch hours, I paid the rent in my early 20s by working in the research department at Amnesty International's headquarters in London.

There in my little office I read hastily scribbled letters smuggled out of totalitarian regimes by men and women who were risking imprisonment to inform the outside world of what was happening to them. I saw photographs of those who had disappeared without trace, sent to Amnesty by their desperate families and friends. I read the testimony of torture victims and saw pictures of their injuries. I opened handwritten, eye-witness accounts of summary trials and executions, of kidnappings and rapes.

Many of my co-workers were ex-political prisoners, people who had been displaced from their homes, or fled into exile, because they had the temerity to think independently of their government. Visitors to our office included those who had come to give information, or to try and find out what had happened to those they had been forced to leave behind.

I shall never forget the African torture victim, a young man no older than I was at the time, who had become mentally ill after all he had enred in his homeland. He trembled uncontrollably as he spoke into a video camera about the brutality inflicted upon him. He was a foot taller than I was, and seemed as fragile as a child. I was given the job of escorting him to the Underground Station afterwards, and this man whose life had been shattered by cruelty took my hand with exquisite courtesy, and wished me future happiness.

And as long as I live I shall remember walking along an empty corridor and suddenly hearing, from behind a closed door, a scream of pain and horror such as I have never heard since. The door opened, and the researcher poked out her head and told me to run and make a hot drink for the young man sitting with her. She had just given him the news that in retaliation for his own outspokenness against his country's regime, his mother had been seized and executed.

Every day of my working week in my early 20s I was reminded how incredibly fortunate I was, to live in a country with a democratically elected government, where legal representation and a public trial were the rights of everyone.

Every day, I saw more evidence about the evils humankind will inflict on their fellow humans, to gain or maintain power. I began to have nightmares, literal nightmares, about some of the things I saw, heard and read.

And yet I also learned more about human goodness at Amnesty International than I had ever known before.

Amnesty mobilises thousands of people who have never been tortured or imprisoned for their beliefs to act on behalf of those who have. The power of human empathy, leading to collective action, saves lives, and frees prisoners. Ordinary people, whose personal well-being and security are assured, join together in huge numbers to save people they do not know, and will never meet. My small participation in that process was one of the most humbling and inspiring experiences of my life.

Unlike any other creature on this planet, humans can learn and understand, without having experienced. They can think themselves into other people's minds, imagine themselves into other people's places.

Of course, this is a power, like my brand of fictional magic, that is morally neutral. One might use such an ability to manipulate, or control, just as much as to understand or sympathise.

And many prefer not to exercise their imaginations at all. They choose to remain comfortably within the bounds of their own experience, never troubling to wonder how it would feel to have been born other than they are. They can refuse to hear screams or to peer inside cages; they can close their minds and hearts to any suffering that does not touch them personally; they can refuse to know.

I might be tempted to envy people who can live that way, except that I do not think they have any fewer nightmares than I do. Choosing to live in narrow spaces can lead to a form of mental agoraphobia, and that brings its own terrors. I think the wilfully unimaginative see more monsters. They are often more afraid.

What is more, those who choose not to empathise may enable real monsters. For without ever committing an act of outright evil ourselves, we collude with it, through our own apathy.

One of the many things I learned at the end of that Classics corridor down which I ventured at the age of 18, in search of something I could not then define, was this, written by the Greek author Plutarch: What we achieve inwardly will change outer reality.

That is an astonishing statement and yet proven a thousand times every day of our lives. It expresses, in part, our inescapable connection with the outside world, the fact that we touch other people's lives simply by existing.

But how much more are you, Harvard graates of 2008, likely to touch other people's lives? Your intelligence, your capacity for hard work, the ecation you have earned and received, give you unique status, and unique responsibilities. Even your nationality sets you apart. The great majority of you belong to the world's only remaining superpower. The way you vote, the way you live, the way you protest, the pressure you bring to bear on your government, has an impact way beyond your borders. That is your privilege, and your burden.

If you choose to use your status and influence to raise your voice on behalf of those who have no voice; if you choose to identify not only with the powerful, but with the powerless; if you retain the ability to imagine yourself into the lives of those who do not have your advantages, then it will not only be your proud families who celebrate your existence, but thousands and millions of people whose reality you have helped transform for the better. We do not need magic to change the world, we carry all the power we need inside ourselves already: we have the power to imagine better.

I am nearly finished. I have one last hope for you, which is something that I already had at 21. The friends with whom I sat on graation day have been my friends for life. They are my children's godparents, the people to whom I've been able to turn in times of trouble, friends who have been kind enough not to sue me when I've used their names for Death Eaters. At our graation we were bound by enormous affection, by our shared experience of a time that could never come again, and, of course, by the knowledge that we held certain photographic evidence that would be exceptionally valuable if any of us ran for Prime Minister.

So today, I can wish you nothing better than similar friendships. And tomorrow, I hope that even if you remember not a single word of mine, you remember those of Seneca, another of those old Romans I met when I fled down the Classics corridor, in retreat from career ladders, in search of ancient wisdom:

As is a tale, so is life: not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters.

有人凭着三寸不烂之舌,不用一兵一卒,便能连下数城;也有人单枪匹马,面对众多敌人,慷慨陈辞,结果竟化敌为友;而陈胜当年揭竿而起,振臂一呼,天下便能风云呼应,这其中的原因,虽然主要是因为客观因素,但也不能说与他的那篇“演说词”毫无关系。
一场成功的演讲,仍是一枝神奇的枪,一柄锋利的剑。而一场成功的演讲,又首先取决于一篇成功的演讲稿。
当然,正如“诗无定法”一样,演讲稿的写作也可以说是没有定法的。但一般来讲,它又具有一定的规律可循。下面,我就我所体会的述其一二。
首先,演讲稿的内容、风格要根据对象、场合,甚至演讲者本人的一些特定情况而定。用美国演讲专家多利斯·莎劳夫的话讲,即演讲稿既要适合你,又要适合他,同时,还要适合当时的场合以及规定的时间。
所谓适合你,是说演讲稿正好适合演讲人的年龄、身份、气质以及特长等。否则,不仅会影响演讲效果,有时甚至还会弄得人啼笑皆非。比如你是一个中学生,却偏偏要你去演讲一篇老成持重,带有严重教训口吻的演说词,你试试看?再比如你是一个饱经沧爽的成熟老练的长者,那么,你去对一群天真活泼的青年作一次情绪激昂、甚至不合自己身份的演说试试看?这效果是可想而知的。所以说,演讲稿一般来讲要适合演讲人。像1987年曲啸的题为《我的路》的演讲,就非常适合演讲者本人的身份、年龄、职业以及气质。这次演讲的听众是大学生和大学里的老师们。而演讲者本人就是一个大知识分子、大学教授。他把自己的遭遇以及当时知识分子的真实心态呈现在听众面前,深深地打动了听众。正因为这篇演讲稿准确地把握住了演讲者本人的身份以及其它一些特定的情况,所以,它隽永动人,易于接受。
所谓适合他,适合场合,这也是写演讲稿时必须考虑的。比如你对一批山区的老农演讲,却不断地使用着“是可忍,孰不可忍”之类的文言句子,那么,尽管你的拳头握得再紧,你的声音提得再高,但听众的表情反映恐怕也只能是一片茫然。而像日本著名作家川端康成在瑞典斯得哥尔摩接受诺贝尔文学奖时所作的题为《我在美国的日子》的演讲,尽管它文气十足,讲究优美,但由于它适合到会的听众,适合当时的环境,所以,被认为是一篇著名的演说词。
总之,演讲稿的写作,一定要注意它的适合性。只有适合“你”的,才能易于表达,表达得更好;只有适合“他”的,才容易被人接受,取得应有的、更好的效果。
其次,演讲稿一定要有充沛的感情,有较强的说服力。当然,二者在一篇演讲稿中有时允许有所偏重。如果是一篇呼吁性的演讲,由于要考虑到它的煽动性,可以偏重于充沛的激情;如果是一篇辩论性的或是一篇劝导性的演讲,由于要以理服人,所以,它可以偏重逻辑性、论证性。不过,如果能将二者统一在一篇演讲稿中,则更好。
像闻一多先生的《最后一次的讲演》,便可以说是一篇富于激情,具有很强说服力的演讲稿。正因为如此,所以它不仅在演讲的当时便获得了数次的热烈掌声,而且,它至今仍回响在我们的耳畔,使我们缅怀先烈,痛恨敌人,时时想起闻先生的音容笑貌。
再如荣获北京市首届大学生演讲比赛一等奖的题为《弱者,你的名字不是女人》(张红、粟红钢撰稿,周怡演讲)的演讲稿,也是热情洋溢,充满着时代气息的。它抓住当时社会上人们普遍注意到的女同志的事业和家庭生活的矛盾,层层剖析,步步推进,充分表达了八十年代的女大学生的宏伟抱负和崭新的生活观。在这篇演说稿中,作者以极富煽动性的语言,大声疾呼:
前人经验也告诉我们,女性同样可以在事业上获得辉煌的成绩。只不过作为女性,要多付出三分汗水、五分勇气、十分毅力、十二分艰辛。(议论、笑、掌声)我们既要事业也要生活,这就注定我们将终生忙碌。
我们认了!(长时间热烈鼓掌)

让怯懦的人去徘徊吧,让俗人们去议论和怜悯吧。同伴们,我们走着自己的路!弱者,你的名字不是女人。(持久而热烈地掌声)
听着这样的演讲,有几个勇敢的女性不把巴掌拍破?听着这样的演讲,又有几个新时代的女大学生不为之激动呢?
富于激情,富于煽动性的演说词在中外历史上是很多的。如美国总统亚伯拉罕·林肯于一八六三年十一月十九日所作的著名的《葛底斯堡演讲辞》;像英国首相丘吉尔任职第三天所作的《热血、辛劳、眼泪和汗水》的演说即是。
当然,有的演说词是以雄辩性、逻辑性、说服力著称的。比如美国独立战争与建国时期著名的政治家和演说家佩特瑞克·亨利的《诉诸武力》即是。
最后,演说词的写作还要注意文学性、技巧性。为了使演说词写得生动、形象,人们常常采用比喻的手法,甚至有时采用通篇用比的手法。例如一个夺得全校演讲比赛第一名的同学,在授奖大会上再作一次答谢演说:
在一个很大很大的瓜田里,有无数的西瓜。它们有很多很多,有的很大,而且很好。有一个西瓜恰好生长在路边。于是,它很容易地便被人发现了。和瓜田的其它许多西瓜比起来,这个生长在路边的西瓜或许并不算最大,并不算最好。但是,由于它被人们发现了,所以,受到了一连串的称赞:“好瓜!好瓜!”
那么,这个西瓜应该怎么想呢?如果它在颂扬声中飘飘然起来,真以为是“老子天下第一”,那么,它便是一个大傻瓜;如果它以为自己的长成完全是凭自己,而忘记了园丁们的培育、浇水、施肥,那么,它也是一个大傻瓜;如果它在颂扬声中能保持清醒,继续生长,力追同伴,那么,它才真正是一个“好瓜”。
我,就是这个生长在路边的、已被人发现的、很大的瓜田中的一只瓜。
这篇演说词虽然很短,但由于它全篇用比,所以, 将演讲者本人的那种谦虚谨慎,再接再厉,不忘园丁,不忘同伴的思想和品德表达得恰如其分,非常完满,非常生动形象。
为了加强演说词的感人效果和说服力量,还可以在文中适当地采用排比、反问和重复等修辞手法。像佩特瑞克·亨利的《诉诸武力》这篇演讲词就是这样。如他为了强调形势的紧迫,用了一连串的排比句式:“我们的申请却只遭到轻蔑;我们的抗辩招来了更多的暴行与侮辱;我们的祈求根本没有得到人家的理睬;我们所得到的不过是被人百般奚落后,一脚踢开阶下。”通过这一连串的排比句的运用后,作者接着又采用一系列的排比句和重复句:“如果我们渴望得到自由——如果我们……——如果我们……——那我们就必须战斗!让我们重复一遍,先生们,我们必须战斗!诉诸武力,诉诸万军之主,这才是我们的唯一前途!”通过这些修辞手法的适当运用,作者“诉诸武力”的思想和理由表达得异常鲜明,异常坚定,异常有力。最后,文章又来一连串的责问和反问:“战火实际上已经爆发。兵器的轰鸣即将随着阵阵的北风而不绝于耳!我们的兄弟们此刻已经开赴战场!我们岂可在这里袖手旁观,坐视不动?请问一些先生们到底心怀什么目的?他们到底希望得到什么?难道无限宝贵的生命,无限美好的和平,最后只能以镣铐和奴役为代价来获得吗?……不自由,则毋宁死!”由于排比、重复、反问等等修辞手法的运用,所以,这篇演说词咄咄逼人,气势酣畅。
有时,演说词也要讲究一定的“无言之美”,给听众留下适当的思考回味的余地。如演讲稿中停顿之处的安排,以及其它富于启迪性的句子的运用等等。有一位美国总统的退位演说仅有六个字:“那么,好吧,再见!”但它却被视为最好的退位演讲,因为它耐人寻味,有一种“无言之美”。事情就是这样,有时你越想把自己的思想表达得更完整、更明了,结果反而使听众越糊涂,越厌烦。当然,我们不是说所有的演说词都以只写几个字为好,我们只是强调在一些特定的场合下,有时也可以适当地给听众留下一点思考的余地。

班干部竞选演讲——我想竞选纪律委员

从一年级起,我就没有竞选过班干部。那时候,我认为自己还没有管别人的能力,在纪律上,也应该自己努力一点,学习也不怎么好。但现在,我想:我也是五五班的一员,也想为五五班作出一些贡献。所以,我决定竞选纪律委员。

如果我能够当上纪律委员,我想:

1、让老师和同学们多多向我提意见,毕竟我从来没有当过班干部。

2、我可以让班里的纪律更好,争取每一次都拿到纪律流动红旗。

3、我可以管住自己,也可以管住别人。上课认真听讲,下课文明礼貌。

4、我会与同学们和睦相处,用幽默的语言跟他们讲道理,大家象生活在一个大家庭里一样快乐。

5、我还会成为老师的好帮手,为老师分忧解难。

如果我竞选不上,也没关系。我会严格要求自己做一个好学生,一个让老师满意的好学生。

不过,我有信心竞选上纪律委员。

『伍』 怎么写演讲稿

演讲稿也叫演说辞,它是在较为隆重的仪式上和某些公众场所发表的讲话文稿。演讲稿是进行演讲的依据,是对演讲内容和形式的规范和提示,它体现着演讲的目的和手段,演讲的内容和形式。除非是个别的大师,大部分人在演讲前都要准备演讲稿范文,因此演讲稿怎么写非常重要,本文提供演讲稿范文的写作方法。
演讲稿的格式与一般文章的格式原则大致相同,分为1.开头;2.主体;3.结尾三个部分。但演讲是具有时间性和空间性的活动,具有一定的鼓动性和感染力,因而,演讲稿范文与一般文章还是略有不同,尤其是它的开头和结尾有特殊的要求。
一、开头
开头要点:要抓住听众,引人入胜
演讲稿的开头,也叫开场白。它在演讲稿的格式中处于显要的地位,好的演讲稿,一开头就应该用最简洁的语言、最经济的时间,把听众的注意力和兴奋点吸引过来,这样,才能达到出奇制胜的效果。
二、主体
主体要点:环环相扣,层层深入
主体是演讲稿的主要部分。在行文的过程中,要处理好思路、节奏和衔接等几个问题。
首先是思路,思路清晰的演讲才能引导听众,最简单的思路是用数字序号来表达内容的层次,如提出3个问题,第1、第2、第3,或有3种方法等等。
数字序号在结构上环环相扣,层层深入,能表达清晰的思路。此外,演讲稿中使用过渡句,或用“首先”“其次”“然后”等语词来区别层次,也是使演讲思路清晰的有效方法。
其次是节奏,是指演讲内容在结构安排上表现出的张弛起伏。节奏变化会使听众不至于疲劳,如在演讲稿范文中,适当地插入幽默、诗文、轶事等,使演讲内容不单一,以便听众的注意力能够长时间地保持高度集中。
当然节奏是为内容服务的,插入的内容应该与演讲主题相呼应,另外,节奏变换过于频繁,也会造成听众注意力涣散。
第三是衔接,是把演讲中的各个内容层次联结起来,使之具有浑然一体的整体感。由于前面提到的节奏的需要,容易使演讲稿的结构显得零散。衔接是对结构松紧、疏密的一种弥补,它使各个内容层次的变换更为巧妙和自然,使演讲稿富于整体感,有助于演讲主题的深入人心。演讲稿结构衔接的方法主要是运用同两段内容、两个层次有联系的过渡段或过渡句。
三、结尾
结尾要点:简洁有力,余音绕梁
结尾是演讲内容的自然结束。言简意赅、余音绕梁的结尾能够震撼听众,促使听众不断地思考和回味。

『陆』 j酒店如何提高执行力演讲稿

酒店制度、程序、规范、标准的建立并不难,难在是否得到准确和严格的执行;工作任务的布置下达也不难,难于执行是否到位、符合预期。这也就是酒店管理中是否达到应有的执行力度。执行力的问题经常困扰着各级管理人员。为提高执行力,笔者认为应当做到以下四个方面:组织有方,督导有力,狠抓落实,关注细节。

一、组织有方

组织即宣传、培训、下达和贯彻的过程。所谓组织有方乃指的是:宣传,要将制度、任务的意义所在,讲足讲透;培训,让员工即要知其然,还要知其所以然;任务下达要做到目标明确,责任到人;而制度的贯彻则由简人繁,由松到紧,循序渐进,配套进行。组织阶段不但不能忽视省略,而且还要多花些时间和精力,认真按以上要求去做。只有组织阶段举轻若重了,才可能在执行中做到举重若轻,事半而功倍。

某一商务酒店长期以来只是要求部门经理每周参加一次例会,而且无须上缴文字材料。新到任的总经理准备在部门经理中推行一项新的制度:要求部门经理每天上缴工作日记并参加每日一次的工作例会。这一制度推行之前,新任总经理不遗余力地向部门经理宣传这一制度的种种好处,同时不急于要求大家一步到位,先是一周的三次早会(其中一次还作为一周的工作计划会),日记写多写少、写好写差不予评说。执行了一段时间,大家慢慢养成写日记的习惯。一个季度之后全面走向正轨。有了工作日记,总经理可以对日记中反映的某些问题或在晨会前即作指示,或安排于晨会后另开专题会解决。这样每一天晨会的内容只涉及到三个必须:必须强调、必须通报和必须在会上协调的,大大缩短了晨会时间,还克服了过去那种会上每人轮流发言、大家陪听甚至互相扯皮的现象。

在组织阶段还必须借助企业文化的影响作用。企业文化体现了企业的群体价值观和企业所推崇的精神理念,通过各种载体诸如制度、政策、口号(也包括总经理在员工大会的发言)、主题活动等来引领员工的思想潮流和意识形态。在组织阶段,大力宣扬“执行文化”和“责任文化”,让员工明白:酒店重用和提拔对酒店的制度、任务执行得力和努力完成的人,奖赏和信任工作踏实、认真负责的人,反对急功近利、浮躁虚伪、懒散松垮、说的比做的好等等不良作风。

二、督导有力

制度、程序、规范、标准等的贯彻执行,任务工作的布置开展,倘若放任自流,很可能被执行走样变形甚至没有执行,从而达不到预期目标。因此在执行过程中,监督、指导就成了管理人员特别是基层管理人员日常工作的主要职责和内容。

实践表明,要求下级做到的上级首先必须做到;要求下级会的,上级本身应当先学会;要求下级努力完成任务,上级则必须身先士卒。榜样的力量是巨大的,身体力行的管理人员才可能在督导中说话有力。当然,督导有力还不仅在于监督频度和指令力度,更重要的还要看管理人员自身的专业素养和人格魅力。专业素养越高,在员工中的威信也越高;人格魅力越强,越能获得员工的信任和佩服,这些对督导所产生的效果自然都会有极大的影响。

三、狠抓落实

制度规范实施乃至日常工作布置,其执行结果如何?效果是否达到预期?需要抓落实。这如同上发条、旋瓶盖,没有拧紧到位,最后还可能松懈而前功尽弃。为什么有人说“做酒店累”(主要表现为心累)?这是因为很有可能:制度、程序都在执行中,但执行走样;规范、标准都已颁布,但执行不严;工作任务作了布置,但不是进度达不到,就是脱节出纰漏。因此,许多管理人员下班时间已过,但仍不敢离开岗位。不是他们不想洒脱,也不是他们能力不足,而实在是因为酒店工作环节多、涉及人员多、变化因素多,只要一个环节松脱,一个员工马虎,或出现一个突发事件,都有可能导致一连串的失败。各级管理人员要想放得下心,先要狠得下心,对工作中的关键部位、关键环节决不放过,勤于走动检查,一旦发现问题,立即追踪整改,直至落实。

因不抓落实而导致服务质量下降甚至严重事故发生的事例不胜枚举。某酒店在安全管理方面不可谓没有制度:“动火”制度建立了(如规定工程部在车间以外电焊必须由保安部到场检查并采取防范措施后方可施工),消防培训演练制度也有了,然而实际执行情况如何呢?某日工程部对正在营业的客房电焊维修窗户,没有人落实“动火”制度,工程部没按程序要求报保安部,保安部无人到场监督指导。结果电焊火花飞溅引发火灾。还因为保安部对新员工消防培训演练制度没有执行落实,导致火灾发生时,楼层服务员虽然在慌乱中找到灭火器,但又因平时缺乏训练而不懂使用。

四、关注细节

如何衡量执行力度?主要看执行后的结果是否完美。执行力差,出现的问题必然多。这里所说的问题往往还表现在细节上。为了提高执行力度,最后还必须时常关注工作中的细节。“细节决定成败”,现实中不乏其例,尤其是在对客服务方面。对客服务的程序、规范乃至标准,各家酒店不但都会向标杆酒店学习,甚至比追赶超,订得既细又严,但执行者有时对关键细节就是不认真执行,导致一场接待或一次服务的失败,轻则受到客人投诉表示不满,重则酒店还要为此付出经济代价。例如,接待客人入住时,没有请客人在“贵重物品和现金请寄存”通知栏上签名,而客人在酒店丢失了贵重物品,公安部门认定系酒店安全措施不力所致,判定由酒店赔偿;接受客人叫醒要求,忘记复述确认,致使叫醒失误,由此造成客人因行程变更所产生的经济损失由酒店承担,诸如此类,不一而足。其缘由无不是原定程序的重要细节执行疏漏。为此,各级管理人员在培训指导时要强调细节,在监督检查时要落实细节,唯有如此,才可能使得制度、程序、规范、标准执行到位,工作任务以及重大接待活动圆满完成。

一、加强学习,促进教师队伍素质的整体提高

1、 作为校长,学习是自己每天必修的一课。只有学习,才能与时俱进,才能捕捉各种新信息,才能树立现代教育观念,更好地增强工作的主动性,预见性和创造性。工作的同时,我坚持学理论知识、学法律法规、学专业知识、学新的理念。在具体的实际工作中,我以理论为指导,研究新问题,拓展新思路,创造性开展工作。作为芜湖市师资库教师,我承担了《评好课》集中培训主讲工作,得到全县六百多位语文及其他学科教师的认同和好评、同时我还在校本培训中和全体教师共同进行《评好课》研讨学习活动,取得较好效果。

2、作为学校的管理者,我校班子成员始终坚持把学习放在首位。大家认真学习党的一系列政策法规和教育理论,积极参加科学发展观以及教育理论和专业知识学习活动。通过学习,班子成员的整体素质有了明显提高,贯彻执行党的方针、政策的自觉性有了进一步的增强,工作作风和参与课改的观念有了进一步的转变。

3、作为学校的骨干和主力军的教师,在学习新课程新知识的前提下,还积极争取“走出去”,向多方学习,取经内化,不断提升自身素质。涌现出一批优秀的教师。

著名教育家魏书生说过:“学校管理:一要民主,二要科学。”一学期来的学校管理中我们注重民主和科学的结合。使学校管理更进一步步入了科学化和规范化的轨道。

1. 实行例会制度,提高管理能力。及时沟通思想,用心查找问题,精心研究工作,增强了班子的凝聚力。我们两所完小校长和一个教学点的负责人,思想觉悟高,大局意识强,管理上完全和中心学校保持一致,使得完小教育教学逐步与中心学校齐头并进,深受群众的赞赏。

2.充分发扬民主,形成教育合力。 学校日常工作,由校行政会研究决定,及时张榜公示。坚持依法治教、依法行政、科学决策。对于学校大事要事,如绩效工资考核、年度考核等,我们的老师从大局出发,统筹兼顾,发扬风格,使得绩效考核、年度考核向积极方向发展,不仅促进了学校工作,还增进了教师间的友情,使得教育更具凝聚力。

3、密切联系群众,凸显教育魅力。激发教职工的主人翁责任感。学校教职工积极为管理学校、建设学校提出好建议.

4.狠抓师德建设,展示教师活力。 学校严格执行县局《关于开展师德师风建设活动的意见》,组织教师认真学习了新修订的《中小学教师职业规范》、县《“学规范,强师德,树形象”中小学师德主题教育活动实施方案》、《教师法》、《义务教育法》等。特别是利用开展学《规范》,促使全体教师的政治素养和师德师风修养发生了很大变化,教师的敬业精神更强了,对学生、特别是“留守学生”付出的爱心更多了,教育效果明显提高。建立了新型的亲切的和谐的师生关系,我们的老师没有一例违规行。由于党组织成员工作调动,党组织虽然不健全,但班子中党员同志一如既往开展创先争优活动,积极组织教师积极分子参加芜湖县组织的“我为科学发展比奉献作贡献演讲比赛”,取得教育系统一等奖第一名、全县二等奖的好成绩。我校六年级学生参加的片区“经典美文朗诵”比赛中,获得好成绩。学校还被陶辛镇推荐为“芜湖市综合治理先进集体”。

5、落实齐抓共管,深挖教育潜力。在教育局教监会的指导协调下,我们学校得到了各级政府、社区及社会各界的大力支持,最大限度的整合教育资源,使学校得以健康稳定的发展。

学校根据县教育局工作要求,理清思路,找准方法。经过努力,顺利地完成了2010年的各项教育教学工作,学生的综合素质得到发展,教育教学质量得到提高,学校办学品味得到提升。

(1).发挥部门作用,完善管理制度。逐步完善了《陶辛中心学校绩效班主任考核制度》、《班主任量化月考核表》等,通过检查评比,真正起到了表彰先进、激励全员的作用,努力做到事事有记录,量化了《班主任工作实录》考核要求,注重管理过程的精细化,在班主任考核检查方面有校长室进行量化考核。

(2)、强化常规管理,加大考核力度。落实月查月评制度。使各类考评、考核落到实处,真正发挥绩效的激励作用。

(3)、整合教研“校培”,提高综合素质。学校在强化师德师风修养的同时,利用校本资源优势,特别是结合第三轮继续教育本年度“评好课”要求,进行公共课《教育创新》培训、《评好课》集中和校本专项培训、信息技术整合应用、网络资源的应用等校本业务培训,同时抓好教师在职学历提高。学校75几名教师中,本科8人,大专54人,学历达标率100% 。

(4)、严抓德育工作,完善人格品质。重视德育工作,坚持德育为首,加强对未成年人的保护,开展“三德”系列教育活动,即:领导修政德,教师修师德,学生修品德。不断加强师德建设,强化学生的养成教育,真正落实“以德立校,创新育人”的办学思想。以少先队为平台,以活动为载体,对学生进行德行教育。如:少先队经常性组织大型教育活动和主题中队会,利用少队宣传栏、班队会、思想品德课、红领巾广播站、国旗下演讲对学生进行品德熏陶; 为了保证养成教育经常化,并将养成教育落到实处,学校制定了“行为规范示范班级评选制度”,把行为规范班级的荣誉和班主任的考核挂钩,调动了师生的积极性,从而使学生的行为规范时时有人抓处处有人管,形成了良好的局面; 根据学校实际情况,每月开展一个主题教育活动,先后举行了“学雷锋、做好事”专项活动;“六一”表彰庆祝活动;“感恩主题”活动;开展主题为“留守学生之家”开放活动,培养学生互帮互爱思想;通过重阳节慰问、感恩教育演讲比赛加强了学生传统教育;学校少先队还组织了献爱心活动,为患病的二小,三元的同学送去温暖。在活动中陶冶情操,在感悟中完善人格。每个班级都利用不同形式开展主题教育活动。各班通过各种形式活学活用《小学生日常行为规范》让“规范”深入学生心中,使文明的语言,优雅的举止成为学生的追求,成为全体教师德育教育的目标。在创建文明县城、文明镇的活动中,我校全体师生因陋就简,千方百计营造书香育人环境,打造和谐魅力校园,得到省市县镇各级领导的高度评价和赞赏。

(5)、安全重于泰山,创建平安校园。确立安全重于泰山的观点,时时处处抓安全。学校制定了安全工作责任书、告家长安全责任书等,进一步做好对师生规范要求,确保师生安全,达到了用制度约束人、管理人,这样做收到了良好效果。学校利用图片、广播宣传,农远资源,结合实际适时开展防灾害(防震)(防溺水)(防火灾)(防雷击)(防液化气泄露)自救演练,消防演练等,适时进行健康教育、疾病防控教育。班主任及授课老师还经常教育学生正确上下楼梯,正确过马路,正确用电、合理饮食等。尤其是我校分管安全主任,工作细致,讲究方法,对安全隐患及时排查及时解除。由于措施得力,抓得实,抓得广,学校师生人人平安,个个健康,学校财产也得到很好的保护。保安的敬职敬业的工作,也为我校创建平安校园作出了应有的贡献!

(6)、以教研促教学,抓全面显特色。强化教学质量是学校生命线的意识,提升教师的业务水平专业素质。我校十几位教师参加了国家、省市级培训和学习。通过多种形式的培训,建立了一支思想觉悟高、业务能力强、具有一定开拓精神的教师队伍,为学校的进一步发展奠定了基础。在过去的一年,我校教研成果喜人,有2人次获国家级三等奖,3人次获省光盘录像课三等奖,21人次县级课堂教学比赛奖;在教研论文教学总结评比中有82%教师获奖。 我校的综合学科抓得实抓得严,成功组织了“陶辛片区信息技术整合优质科大赛”我校参赛选手取得了一、三等奖的好成绩。尤其是在教育局组织的质量测查中成绩始终名列全县前茅。学校以教研促教学,抓全面显特色,收到了良好的效果。

(7)、常抓素质教育,结出丰硕成果。我校全体教师都以提高学生的综合素质为目标,以“经典诵读”为特色提高学生的道德文化修养,培养学生做“少年君子”。如举办经典板报,开通经典广播站,学校粘贴经典展板等,定期和不定期进行“经典班级”布置评比,各班级开展了经典诵读之星的开展评比活动,学期初召开经典座谈献计会,学期终召开阶段总结会议。以“阳光体育”提高学生的品德修养和身体素质,举行了趣味体育运动会。以“品德与生活”“科学”学科为抓手,联系生活,拓展视野,培养学生的社会意识和生活能力。以“青少年活动中心分校”为平台,全面提高学生素质。学校从2010年3月开设了儿童画班,书法班,思维训练班,新概念英语班等。通过这些班级的开设,培养了一批又专又好的学生,得到了家长、学生的好评。如四至六年级学科“整合”竞赛、一至三年级计算比赛、一至四年级铅笔字比赛、五六年级钢笔字比赛等。在开展“敬老月”活动中,我校少先队组织学生为老寿星献词并有多人表演精彩节目,得到教育局领导的真切表扬、受到退协老教师的热烈欢迎。我校学生在老师的精心辅导下,积极参加各级各类活动,在市县教育主管部门举办的各类大赛中都获得优异成绩。尤其是小学生综合知识竞赛,在全县都力拔头筹。学生的综合素质得到明显提高。

(8 )、构建教育网络,办群众满意教育。为了提高家长的育儿素养,学校邀请教育部关工委教师团教授来学校和家长面对面交流,得到专家的首肯,家长的参与率让专家感到无比满意,有序组织和现场活跃参与的气氛让专家感到震撼。这一切的一切,都是我们全体班子成员、全体班主任及任课教师全力协作的结果。在此,表示深深的感谢!我为有这样优秀的团队感到骄傲,更为能和大家一道工作感到无比幸福!

2010年已经过去,回望一年来的付出,我们感到欣慰,因为我们的付出得到了社会的认同,领导的肯定,家长的满意,学生的成长。我们学校先后荣获市“综治先进集体”;市“未成年人教育先进单位”;县“预防疾病控制”先进集体;第九届县综合知识竞赛一等奖,县数学学科抽测第一名,语文学科抽测第四名;2010年6月毕业班县统测全县综合排名第三,数学学科全县第一,语文学科全县第三;参加市举办县承办的《小学生导读》知识竞赛,三名学生全部获奖;县绘画比赛我校五名学生获奖,分别为二、三等奖,片区经典诵读展示赛五名学生全部获奖。

尊敬的各位领导、各位老师:作为校长,我越来越深刻感受到责任的份量。反思即将过去的一年,有喜悦、有收获、有成就,但我也深感在管理过程中所存在的思不全、想不周、行不力、效不优、质不硬等问题。在今后的日子里,我将更理智地看待自己,看待学校,看待发展。更智慧地看待教师,成就教师。为陶辛镇小学的教育事业,更好地用真情感悟,用精神奋斗,用智慧创造。
