Today we are launching a campaign HeForShe. I am reaching out to you because we need your help. We must try to mobilize as many men and boys as possible to be advocates for change. We don’ just want to talk about it. We want to try and make sure it’s tangible.
I was appointed as Goodwill Ambassador for UN Women 6 months ago.The more I spoke about feminism, the more I realized that fighting for women’s rights has too often become synonymous with man-hating. If there is one thing I know for certain is that this has to stop. For the record, feminism by definition is the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. It is the theory of political, economic and social equality of the sexes.
When I was 8, I was called bossy because I wanted to direct a play we would put on for our parents. When at 14, I started to be sexualized by certain elements of the media. At 15, my girlfriends started dropping out of sports teams because they didn’t want to appear masculine. At 18, my male friends were unable to express their feelings.I decided that I was a feminist. This seemed uncomplicated to me. But my recent research has shown me that feminism has become an unpopular word. Women are choosing not to identify as feminists. Apparently, [women’s expression is] seen as too strong, too aggressive, isolating, and anti-men, unattractive even.
Why has the word become such an uncomfortable one? I think it is right I am paid the same as my male counterparts. I think it is right that I should be able to make decisions about my own body. I think it is right that women be involved on my behalf in the policies and decisions that will affect my life. I think it is right that socially, I am afforded the same respect as men.
But sadly, I can say that there is no one country in the world where all women can expect to see these rights. No country in the world can yet say that they achieved gender equality. These rights are considered to be human rights but I am one of the lucky ones.
My life is a sheer privilege because my parents didn’t love me less because I was born a daughter. My school did not limit me because I was a girl. My mentors didn*t assume that I would go less far because I might give birth to a child one day. These influences are the gender equality ambassadors that made me who I am today. They may not know it but they are the inadvertent feminists needed in the world today. We need more of those.
If you still hate the word, it is not the word that is important. It is the idea and the ambition behind it because not all women have received the same rights I have. In fact, statistically, very few have.
In 1997, Hillary Clinton made a famous speech in Beijing about women’s rights. Sadly, many of the things that she wanted to change are still true today. What struck me the most was that less than 30% of the audience were male. How can we effect change in the world when only half of it is invited or being welcomed to participate in the conversation?
Men, I would like to give this opportunity to extend your formal invitation. Gender equality is your issue, too. Because to date, I’ve seen my father’s role as a parent being valued less by society. I’ve seen young men suffering from mental illness, unable to ask for help for fear it would make them less of a man. In fact, in the UK, suicide is the biggest killer of men between 20 to 49, eclipsing road accidents, cancer and heart disease. I’ve seen men fragile and insecure by what constitutes male success. Men don’t have the benefits of equality, either.
We don’t often talk about men being imprisoned by gender stereotypes but I can see that they are. When they are free, things will change for women as a natural consequence. If men don’t have to be aggressive in order to be accepted, women won’t feel compelled to be submissive. If men don’t have to control, women won’t have to be controlled.
Both men and women should feel free to be sensitive. Both men and women should feel free to be strong. It is time that we all see gender as a spectrum instead of two sets of opposing ideals. We should stop defining each other by what we are not and start defining ourselves by who we are. We can all be freer and this is what HeForShe is about. It’s about freedom. I want men to take up this mantle so that their daughters, sisters and mothers can be free from prejudice but also so that their sons have permission to be vulnerable and human too, reclaim parts of themselves they abandoned and in doing so, be a more true and complete version of themselves.
You might think: who is this Harry Potter girl? What is she doing at the UN? I’ve been asking myself the same thing. All I know is that I care about this problem and I want to make it better. And having seen what I’ve seen and given the chance, I feel it is my responsibility to say something. Statesman Edmund Burke said all that is need for the forces of evil to triumph is for good men and women to do nothing.
In my nervousness for this speech and in my moments of doubt, I told myself firmly: if not me, who? If not now, when? If you cast doubts when opportunity is presented to you, I hope those words will be helpful. Because the reality is if we do nothing, it will take 75 years or maybe 100 before women can expect to be paid the same as men for the same work. 15.5 million girls will be married in the next 16 years as children. And at current rates, it won*t be until 2086 before all rural African girls can have a secondary ecation.
If you believe in equality, you might be one of the inadvertent feminists I spoke of earlier and for this I appraud you. We must strive for a united world but the good news is we have a platform. It is called HeForShe.
I invite you to step forward, to be seen and I ask yourself: if not me, who? If not now, when? Thank you.

Firstly, the bid theme. Shanghai’ bid theme was “Better City, Better Life”. The theme of “City” had never been adopted in the 152-year history of World Expo and it also fits in well with the phenomenon of urbanization that accompanies the global economy integration now occurring. Urbanization is a result of human civilization, but it can also generate serious problems. On one hand, we must recognize that urbanization is an irreversible phenomenon because according to UN estimates, by 2020, 65% of the world’s population will live in cities. On the other hand, we must also actively seek solutions to the problems brought out about by urbanization. World Expo Shanghai will provide a forum for studying and discussing global urbanization
Secondly, World Expo’s site selection. The site selected for Expo Shanghai has combined instrial redevelopment, environmental management and improving people standard of living and housing conditions. It incorporates creative and original ideas and this is in itself the best reflection of the theme of cities.
Thirdly, strong public support. Throughout the course of the World Expo bid, private-sector organizations carried out a large number of public opinion polls and additionally, the world renowned Gallup was also invited to carry out a worldwide public opinion survey of Chinese people. The findings reveal that the rate of support of the Chinese public for World Expo exceeds 90%.
Fourthly, the central government has provided full financial guarantees. The infrastructure and venue construction for World Expo 2010 will require a total direct government investment of US$3 billion and the Central government has pledged its full support.
Fifthly, the Chinese government has set up a special US$100 million special fund to be used to facilitate the participation of developing countries coming to the World Expo in China. Our position is that no developing country should be marginalized at an international pageant like World Expo. As a developing country, China is deeply aware of the need of developing countries to display themselves and we should provide them with a platform to carry out exchange with developed countries on a basis of equality.
Sixthly, China has the confidence and ability to set two new records in the history of World Expo - the greatest number of visitors and the greatest number of participating nations and international organizations.
Seventhly, the Chinese government has formulated a complete series of follow-on usage plans for the related venues. In planning international events such as the Olympic Games, World Expo, and World Cup, the most difficult problem is how to make proper follow-on use of venues. In our bid, we proposed the reconstruction of the pavilions into international economic, cultural, technological and exchange centers after the end of World Expo. This is a groundbreaking idea

I don’ know what that dream is that you have, I don’t care how disappointing it might have been as you’ve been working toward that dream, but that dream that you’re holding in your mind, that it’s possible!
Some of you already know, that it’s hard, it’s not easy, it’s hard changing your life. That in the process of working on your dreams you are going to incur a lot of disappointment, a lot of failure, a lot of pain. There are moments that you are going to doubt yourself. You said, God why is this happening to me? I’m just trying to take care of my family, trying to give them a good life, I’m not trying to steal or rob from anybody. Why does this have to happen to me. For those of you that have experienced some hardships – don’t give up on your dream.
The rough times are gonna come, but they have not come to stay, they have come to pass. Greatness, is not this wonderful, esoteric, illusive, God like feature that only the special among can achieve. It’s something that truly exists, in all of us. It’s very important for you to believe that you are the one!
Most people they raise a family, they earn a living and then they die. They stop growing, they stop working on themselves, they stop stretching, the stop pushing themselves. Then a lot of people like to complain but they don’t wanna do anything about their situation. And most people don’t work on their dreams – why?
1. Is because of fear, fear of failure “what if things don’t work out“?
2. Is fair of success “what if they do and I can’t handle it?”
These are not risk takers
You have spent so much time with other people, you have spent so much time trying to get people to like you, you know other people more than you know yourself. You’ve studied them, you know about them, you want to hang out with them, you want to be just like them. You’ve invested so much time on them, you don’t know who you are. I challenge you to spend time by yourself.
It’s necessary, that you get the losers out of your life, if you want to live your dream. But people who are running towards their dreams, life has a special kind of meaning. When you become the ‘right-person’, what you do is you start separating yourself from other people you begin to have a certain uniqueness, as long as you follow other people, as long as you are being a ‘-cat’, you will never ever be the best -cat in the world but you will be the best you can be!
I challenge you to define your value.
Everybody won’t see it, everybody won’t join you, everybody won’t have the vision…it’s necessary to know that you are an uncommon breed. It’s necessary that you align yourself with people and attract people into your business, who are hungry, people who are unstoppable and unreasonable, people who are refusing to live life just as it is and who want more!
The people that are living their dreams are parting with winners, to attach themselves to the and the people who are living their dreams are the people that know that if it’s going to happen it’s up to them!
If you want to be more successful, if you want to have and do stuff you never done before then I’m asking you to invest in you!
Someones opinion of you does not have to become your reality.
You don’t have to go through life being a victim. And even though you face disappointments, you have to know within yourself that ‘I can do this, even if no one else sees it for me, I must see it for myself!’
No matter how bad it is, how hard it gets, say to yourself, I’m going to make it!
I wanna represent an idea. I wanna represent possibilities. Some of you right now, you wanna go to the next level. You wanna be a civil engineer, you wanna council, you wanna be a doctor.
Listen to me: You can’t get to that level. You can’t get to that level until you start to invest in your mind
I dare you to invest in your mind.
I dare you to invest time.
I dare you to be alone.
I dare you to spend an HOUR alone to get to know yourself.
I challenge you to get to a place where people do not like or do not even bother you anymore. Why? Because you’re not concerned with making them happy anyway. Because you’re trying to blow up. You’re trying to get to the next level. Because you’re investing in your mind.
If you’re still talking about your dream and your goals but you have not done anything just TAKE THE FIRST STEP.
You can make your parents proud, you can make your school proud you can touch millions of peoples lives and the world will never be the same again because you came this way. Don’t let anybody steal your dream!
After we face a rejection and a “no” or we have a meeting and no one shows up, or somebody says “you can count on me” and they don’t come through, what if we have that kind of attitude that cause reposes, nobody believes in you, you’ve lost again, and again, the lights are cut off but you are still looking at your dream, reviewing it everyday and saying to yourself: IT’S NOT OVER UNTIL I WIN!

As senior 3 students,i think it's time to figure our future . In my opinion, what i want the most in the days to come is a balanced life which includes academic excellence , great health condition and responsiblity for the society and country.
First of all ,although that we are gonna get into college, academic performance still matters a lot.In fact ,a lot of foreign scholars put forward that the period in college is absolutely the best time in a person's life to do academic research and widen his or her scope of knowledge. So what i want ,is a passion for learning new staff ring my college life and every day in the future life.Because ,as is known to all ,live and learn.
Then,as an important part of a balanced life, you can't forget about health condition,both physically and mentally.For the physical side,although it is a commonplace talk of an old scholar, balanced diets and regular exercise are the key factors.a strong and figured body is the basis for everything .And for the mental side , being optimisitic is definitely necessary and important ,it helps you to think in a positive way which makes overcoming the difficulties and hardships much easier. So,great health condition is also what i want.
Finally,being a responsible young man is what i want either. Social activities such as visiting
the home of respect for the aged and take care of the olds or work as a community volunteer are both great choices.Actually ,it is that you want to do something for the society and your country than what you gonna do that really matters.When you start to think about these staff.

First off, it has been a while since I posted so I figured I would try it out here. It was one of the things I have missed most and now that I am able to start sharing again I am looking forward to engaging in some discussion (so please jump in).
One of the questions I keep getting asked of late is what have I learned over my years of eCommerce leadership experience at Home Depot, Sears, Travelocity and Walmart so I figured I would take a stab at it here. I am going to tie in an old post from Sept 2009 that looked at My Manifesto for eCommerce. 1. People are more important than technology: I think today more than ever this is key in eCommerce. It isn't the tech that wins but the people that determine how best to use it. The path to success, in my mind is simple. It is people, then process, followed by technology. Retailers today often get obsessed with building tech or being the top innovators in their field - this is a hard path to success as someone else will always have something newer - focus on delivering great experiences every time and you will win. This is even more so with the advance of platforms likeShopify Plus that can deliver your technology at an incredible value to your business. You don't need to be building functionality anymore (or changing from a retail company to a tech company) - partner with the best and figure out how leverage it better than anyone else in your business, Use the dollars you save to build up a world class team - Build a team that is better than anyone else.

as we know, we would feel lonely if we didn't even have a friend. but it doesn't mean we could reply on our friends all the time. there is a famous motto saying that “a friend is like a quilt with cotton wadding, but the real thing that keeps you warm is your own temperature.” it is really true. we have to work hard together with our friends, encourage each other and help each other. when we receive love and friendship, we should repay as much as we can.

Olympic Games is Holy Land, I'm volunteer.
This is the land with pure flat, has holy fire from start to finish to accompany in side. Just because it is so, I pay out voluntarily for it, I will let my strength, let this slice of land more clean, let more ones know it, is also willing to devote oneself to it as me. I still help to the person who comes to here, let them enjoy the happiness of this slice of Holy Land.

Today I am very glad to be here to share with you my ideas of success. What is success? It is what everyone is longing for.Sometimes success would be rather simple. Winning a game is success; getting a high grade in the exam is success; making a new friend is success; even now I am
standing here giving my speech is somehow also success.
However, as a person’ whole life is concerned, success becomes very
complicated. Is fortune success? Is fame success? Is high social status success? No, I don’t think so. I believe success is the realization of people’
s hopes and ideals.Nowadays, in the modern society there are many people
who are regarded as the successful. And the most obvious characteristics of hem are money, high position and luxurious life. So most people believe that s success and all that they do is for this purpose. But the problem is wether it is real success. We all know there are always more money, higher position and better condition in front of us. If we keep chasing them, where is the end? What will satisfy us at last? Therefore, we can see, to get the real Success we must need something inside, which is the realization of
people’ hopes and ideals.
Different people have different ideas about success; cause people’s hopes and ideas vary from one another. But I am sure every success is dear to everybody, cause it is not easy to come by, cause in the process of our striving for success, we got both our body and soul tempted, meanwhile we are enlightened by the most valuable qualities of human beings: love, patient, courage and sense of responsibility. These are the best treasures. So now I am very proud that I have this opportunity to stand here speaking to all of you. It is my success, cause I raise up to challenge my hope.
What is success? Everyone has his own interpretation as I do. But I am sure
every success leads to an ever-brighter future. So ladies and gentlemen, believe in our hopes, believe in ourselves, we, every one of us, can make a
