Good morning, respectable judges, teachers. Today, standing here makes me feel really honored and excited. The title of my speech is Classifying Rubbish , Improving Environment.
Personally, rubbish has been a big headache in Beijing. As the year 2008 is coming ,every citizen has realized Green Beijing and Green Olympics will bring the far-reaching impact on Beijing and even all China . The scense of rubbish nearly everywhere has given all of us a really bad impression, and I’ sure none of us wish to show off the bad side of Beijing to athletes and journalists all over the world, for it would blemish the city’s and even China’s image and leave a bad reputation. So we really have to work hard on Green Olympics.
Now, we are middle school students. We must improve the sense of protecting the environment and make a contribution to Green Olympics .
In our life, a lot of rubbish , such as waste paper, plastic bottles ,batteries and so on , is proced every day . After we learnt the passage Make Our Environment More Beautiful , we found a lot of rubbish thrown into stbins could be recycled in fact ring our discussion. So we thought it would be better if we could classify rubbish . we told our idea to our teacher and he supported us very much . We became volunteers to classify rubbish . Firstly we got three big boxes and put them in a corner of our classroom . One is for waste paper , one for plastics and Coke cans and the other is for batteries . With Teacher’s help ,soon all the students took part in the activity of classifying rubbish .In a month , we collected three boxes of paper , a box of batteries and a box of plastics and Coke cans .We sold them for 28 yuan and bought some young trees with the money . We planted the trees around our school . We were all spoken highly of by our school principals. Now we keep on the job and are all proud of improving environment .
The world trusts Beijing .Beijing still has a lot to do to reach the level the world expects, but we have the confidence to make Beijing a Green City. Great changes are taking place, and not far in the future, Beijing will be the focus of all worlds’ attention. We’ll grasp the opportunity and do our best to make the sky bluer, water greener and air fresher by the year 2008.

Like the mascots for huge worldwide events such as Olympics and World Cup, the mascot of World Expo is very important for interpreting the theme and expressing the culture. The emblems and images of past World Expos have turned into the unique intangible legacy. The World Expo mascots have not only become the representatives of Expo images, but also embody the culture and spirit of hosting countries and cities.
Mascot, as the symbol featuring the hosting country, will embody the history, development, culture, concept and social background of the country and will play an important role in the communication in political, economical and cultural fields.
The mascot of World Expo 2010 Shanghai China is trying to accomplish the following functions:
世博会和奥运会、世界杯等超级大型活动一样，都十分重视吉祥物对于演绎主题、传承文化的重要作用。历届世博会标志和形象已经成为独特的无形资产，成为世界公认的遗产之一。世博会吉祥物，不仅是世博会形象品牌的重要载体，而且体现了世博会举办国家、承办城市独特的文化魅力，体现了世博会举办国家的民族文化和精神风貌，她已经成为世博会最具价值的无形资产之一。

1. To embody the culture of the hosting country
World Expo 2010 Shanghai China is a global event that is hosted by China and undertaken by the city of Shanghai. It is the first time that a developing country will host a registered World Expo. The design of Shanghai Expo mascot must have Chinese cultural characters, state the Chinese cultural sprit and manifest that Shanghai Expo is a platform for worldwide cultural exchange. Meanwhile, the design must accord with Chinese laws and social conventions.
2. To interpret the theme "Better City, Better Life"
The mascot of World Expo 2010 Shanghai China should become the unique visual logo of theme development and should be different from the existing mascot images of previous World Expos and international events in theme manifestation and designing.
The image of mascot should well express the theme of Shanghai Expo "Better City, Better Life" by using innovative ideas, impressive appearance and motions to state its concept and characters. By exploring the relationship among cities, urban dwellers and planet, the mascot must express the inner relation between heritage and future. The designing concept should be clear and unique, which coincide with the theme and easy for the public to undertand.
3. To have the value of re-creation
The mascot of World Expo 2010 Shanghai China should meet the principle of "good looking, easy to understand, easy to remember and easy to use." It should also be suitable for the creation of licensed procts, including stationeries, garment, souvenirs and jewelries. The mascot should be easy to be re-created in graphic, solid or electronic media.

Created from the Chinese character "," which means people, the mascot embodies the character of Chinese culture and echoes with the designing concept of the emblem of World Expo Shanghai. Using the Chinese character as the mascot of an international event is an innovation.
Hair: the hair of the mascot is like the wave of the sea, which represents its open character and stated the character of its birth place Shanghai.
Face: its cartoon expression shows its confidence and friendly character.
Eye: big, round eyes show his anticipation of the city.
Blue: the color shows its latitude and imagination, which represents the rising and potential China.
Body: its round body represents a well-off life, which is also lovely and cute.
Fist: he thumbs up to show the appreciation and warm welcome to the friends from all over the world.
Big feet: he stands steadily on the big feet and embraces the world with big arms, which shows China have the ability and faith to host a successful Expo.
The structure of Chinese character , in which two strokes support each other, manifests the concept that a good life should be created by all the people. The world should be supported by "people," and people should have harmonious relationships with nature and society, so that the life in cities would be better.

Theme Manifestation
Cities is formed by the assembly of human beings and then evolved into an organized system, in which people are the most active and creative cells. People's life and development of the cities are closely related. With the rapid process of urbanization, the interaction between cities and the biological circle as well as the resources on the earth have become more and more strong. The relationship among people, city and earth runs through the urbanization. The three will become an inseparable complex.
People are the cells as well as the spirit of cities. People give the cities their cultures, characters and uniqueness. With the urbanization, more are more people become urban dwellers. People's life is inevitably affected by the development of cities. Cities should create a good living and innovation environment for people.
The structure and network of different cities have common views as well as their uniqueness. To understand the system and development of cities and construct a sustainable, healthy city structure is the precondition of building a livable city. It relies on people's understanding of city's developing rules as well as the rational activities in daily life.
Human being, creator of good life, is the core to push the city development as well as the most creative part in the urbanization; hence, the designing of the mascot chose the Chinese character of people to be the main image. The blue color mascot represents the elements including earth, dream, sea, future, technology and manifests the theme of World Expo "Better City, Better Life."
The image of the mascot is simple, easy to remember and to communicate. Though it is a single mascot, with the different motions and costumes, it could also have various appearances.
Water is the source of life. The main character of the mascot is water. The blue color stated Chinese brand-new gesture to embrace the world.
Hai Bao embodies ideal of the coexistence of different cultures in cities; embodies the appreciation of economic development and environmental sustainable development; embodies the wish to remodel the city communities, embodies the anticipation of the well-off both urban cities and countrysides. Hai Bao is the whish to colorful life and the warm invitation to friends from all over the world to Shanghai.

not worried at all. The rope was hanging on his neck， and just at
the critical moment， one person ran quickly through the rain
shouting loudly， "Please wait， I'm coming!" It was Pi Sia who
turned back in time.

It’s something that truly exists, in all of us. It’s very important for you to believe that you are the one!
Most people they raise a family, they earn a living and then they die. They stop growing, they stop working on themselves, they stop stretching, the stop pushing themselves. Then a lot of people like to complain but they don’t wanna do anything about their situation. And most people don’t work on their dreams – why?
1. Is because of fear, fear of failure “what if things don’t work out“?
2. Is fair of success “what if they do and I can’t handle it?”
These are not risk takers
You have spent so much time with other people, you have spent so much time trying to get people to like you, you know other people more than you know yourself. I challenge you to spend time by yourself.
It’s necessary, that you get the losers out of your life, if you want to live your dream. But people who are running towards their dreams, life has a special kind of meaning. When you become the ‘right-person’, what you do is you start separating yourself from other people you begin to have a certain uniqueness, as long as you follow other people, as long as you are being a ‘-cat’, you will never ever be the best -cat in the world but you will be the best you can be!
I challenge you to define your value.
Everybody won’t see it, everybody won’t join you, everybody won’t have the vision…it’s necessary to know that you are an uncommon breed. It’s necessary that you align yourself with people and attract people into your business, who are hungry, people who are unstoppable and unreasonable, people who are refusing to live life just as it is and who want more!
The people that are living their dreams are parting with winners, to attach themselves to the and the people who are living their dreams are the people that know that if it’s going to happen it’s up to them!
If you want to be more successful, if you want to have and do stuff you never done before then I’m asking you to invest in you!
Someones opinion of you does not have to become your reality.
You don’t have to go through life being a victim. And even though you face disappointments, you have to know within yourself that ‘I can do this, even if no one else sees it for me, I must see it for myself!’
No matter how bad it is, how hard it gets, say to yourself, I’m going to make it!
I wanna represent an idea. I wanna represent possibilities. Some of you right now, you wanna go to the next level. You wanna be a civil engineer, you wanna council, you wanna be a doctor.
Listen to me: You can’t get to that level. You can’t get to that level until you start to invest in your mind
I dare you to invest in your mind.
I dare you to invest time.
I dare you to be alone.
I dare you to spend an HOUR alone to get to know yourself.
I challenge you to get to a place where people do not like or do not even bother you anymore. Why? Because you’re not concerned with making them happy anyway. Because you’re trying to blow up. You’re trying to get to the next level. Because you’re investing in your mind.
If you’re still talking about your dream and your goals but you have not done anything just TAKE THE FIRST STEP.
You can make your parents proud, you can make your school proud you can touch millions of peoples lives and the world will never be the same again because you came this way. Don’t let anybody steal your dream!
After we face a rejection and a “no” or we have a meeting and no one shows up, or somebody says “you can count on me” and they don’t come through, what if we have that kind of attitude that cause reposes, nobody believes in you, you’ve lost again, and again, the lights are cut off but you are still looking at your dream, reviewing it everyday and saying to yourself: IT’S NOT OVER UNTIL I WIN!
