1. 人山人海:在詩詞用語(poetic expression)里,老外也有使用:"a (the) sea of faces",頗有咱的"人山人海"的味道。例如:Looking out upon the sea of faces, Mr. A delivered a touching speech.(望著一片人山人海的聽眾,A先生發表一篇動人的演說。)Standing at his podium, President Clinton saw a sea of faces waving at him.(柯林頓總統站在講台上看到人山人海的人群揮手向他致意。)。 I saw a sea of faces from the top of the building. I saw the sea of faces." There is a sea of faces." I saw a large crowd of people."
Every family cooking - pot has a black spot."(意思是:每個家庭的鍋子都有黑色的污點。) Many families have skeletons in the closet.(許多家庭的衣櫃里都有骨骸,骨骸就是指家醜。)" Every family has its own source of shame.(每個家庭都有自己的醜事)";說白些,就是:"Every family has its own problem."
There are no feasts in the world which do not break up at last." All good things come to an end."(意思是:所有好的事情,總有結束的一天。) Eventually, all bosom friends will drift apart."
When times are easy, we do not burn the incense, but when the trouble comes, we embrace the feet of the uddha." WorshipGod every day; not just in times of adversity.(要每天敬拜神,不是只在困難時。)" If you study hard every day, exams will not seem overwhelming.(如果你每天用功,考試就不會形成壓力。)"
He advertises mutton, but sells dog's flesh."或"He hangs up a sheep's head at the shopfront and sells dog meat." He applied t-and-switch factics in business.(他經商的策略是先引誘顧客來,再改變貨物的品質。)" This store uses t and switch policy." Let the buyer be aware!(讓消費者提高警覺)"或"Say one thing and do another."

Plug one's ears while stealing a bell(掩耳盜鈴)完整的英語,後面有中文意思:)~

In the Spring and Autumn period, a thief had stolen a bell and intended to carry it away on his back, but the bell was too bulky and heavy to be carried, so he tried to break it into pieces with a hammer to make it easier for carrying. On his first hit, however, the bell made a loud noise. He thus feared that the ringing sound might be heard by someone, who would come to rob him of his bell. His fright made him plug his own ears, while hitting the bell with the hammer. The bell sound was, nevertheless, audible to others and therefore to stuff his ears for the purpose of stealing a bell was a stupid action it is as foolish as burying one's head in the sand.

from Huai Nanzi(淮南子著)

The Frog in the Well

There was a frog that lived in a shallow well.

" Look how well off I am here ! " he told a big turtle from the Eastern Ocean. " I can hop along the coping of the well when I go out, and rest by a crevice in the bricks on my return. I can wallow to my heart's content with only my head above water, or stroll ankle deep through soft mud. No crabs or tadpoles can compare with me. I am master of the water and lord of this shallow well, What more can a fellow ask ? Why don't you come here more often to have a good time ? "

Before the turtle from the Eastern Ocean could get his left foot into the well, however, he caught his right calw on something. So he halted and stepped back then began to describe the ocean to the frog.

" It's more than a thousand miles across and more than ten thousand feet deep. In ancient times there were floods nine years out of ten yet the water in the ocean never increased.

And later there were droughts seven years out of eight yet the water in the ocean never grew less. It has remained quite constant throughtout the ages. That is why I like to live in the Eastern Ocean. "

Then the frog in the shallow well was silent and felt a little abashed.

To Pull up the Seedlings to Help Them Grow

Once upon a time, an old farmer planted a plot of rice. Everyday he went to the field to watch the seedlings grow. He saw the young shoots break through the soil and grow taller each day. But still, he thought they were growing too slowly. He got impatient with the young plants. "How could the plants grow faster?" He tossed in bed ring the night and could not sleep. Suddenly he hit upon an idea. He had an idea not wait for daybreak. He jumped out of the bed and dashed to the field. By the moonlight, he began working on the rice seedlings. One by one, he pulled up the young plants by half an inch. When he finished pulling, it was already morning. Straightening his back, he said to himself, "What a wonderful idea! Look, how much taller the plants have grown one night!" With great satisfaction, he went back home. He told his son what he had done in a triumphant tone. His son was shocked. Now the sun had risen. The young man was heart-broken to see all the pulled-up young plants dying.
People now use " Ba Miao Zhu Zhang" to describe the behavior of those who are too eager to get something done only to make it worse. The idiom is a bit like the English proverb "Haste makes waste" ------to spoil things by excessive enthusiasm.
