偷雞不成，蝕把米

偷雞不成蝕把米是一個漢語成語，拼音是tōu jī bù chéng shí bǎ mǐ，意思是雞沒有偷到，反而損失了一把米，比喻本想佔便宜反而吃了虧。
這句諺語的由來民間還流傳著一個有趣的傳說。
相傳在很久很久以前，在一個小鎮上有兩個小混混，成天無所事事，游手好閑。有一天，他們兩個看見了鎮上王姓大富人家的一隻養了多年的大公雞，哥倆一合計：要是晚上把它偷出來，拿火一烤，多美味呀。
於是他們倆想盡辦法去偷那隻雞，但可能是那雞活得久了，學精了，人還在一米遠的地方它就發現了，還昂頭揚爪向他們示威。哥倆想盡辦法都沒偷成，整天在鎮上郁悶的逛來逛去。這天哥倆在路過酒樓門口時被什麼東西拌倒了，爬起來一看，原來是一醉漢。哥倆看著那醉漢，眉頭一展，計上心來，也不找醉漢的麻煩了，快步跑回老窩，倒出二兩老酒倒碗里然後取了一把米往裡一泡，想著大公雞吃了米後醉暈暈的樣子，心裡別提有多美了。
果然，晚上他們把那雞弄到手了，迫不及待的提著雞跑到郊外的樹林里，匕首把那脖子一砍，放了血拔了毛，內臟都不清理就急不可待地烤了起來，看著慢慢烤熟的雞，聞著越來越濃的香味，哥倆心裡樂滋滋的。可是，空氣怎麼不對，轉過頭一看，媽呀，咋那麼多人呢，哥倆雞也顧不上了，埋頭沖了出去，老遠，老遠還聽見王大富那撕心裂肺的叫喊聲「我的大雄啊」！
那鎮上酒樓的廚師當時靈感突發，花大價錢買下了那隻雞，回家懸梁刺股，精心研究了半年後，懷揣醉雞譜離開了小鎮，踏上了去遠方大城市的路。從此以後，各酒樓的菜單上就多了醉雞這道菜，那廚師也成了當時天下皆知的名人。據說，後來微服私訪的一個王爺把他帶進宮里，成了皇上最喜歡的御廚。至於那兩個無意中發明醉雞的小混混，則背上一個偷雞的罪名，不知跑去哪了，反正再也沒有出現過。
從此，民間就多了一個「偷雞不成反蝕把米」的諺語。
