the common touch the ability of a powerful or famous person to talk to and understand ordinary people
The fact that she had apologized counted for nothing with him.

If
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don』t deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don』t give way to hating,
And yet don』t look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you』ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 』em up with worn-out tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them 「Hold on!」
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings – nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds』 worth of distance run –
Yours is the Earth and everything that』s in it,
And – which is more – you』ll be a Man, my son!

你依然能鎮定自若;
仍能自信如常卻對他人猜忌寬容體諒;
而且不去刻意表現超然不凡或談吐不俗;
如果你充滿夢想,又能夠不被夢想支配;
並能以同樣態度對待這兩種欺世假象;
被流氓歪曲設陷坑害缺乏判斷力的人;
仍能俯身重拾破舊的工具將其重建;
而對損失從不吐露半字;

③ 求迪金森的if you were coming in the fall這首詩的評論

④ If I were.......

Leisure閑暇 by W.H.Davies(1871-1940)
What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare!
No time to stand beneath the boughs,
And stare as long as sheep and cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see,in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars,like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet,how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

而且你能聽取別人懷疑的理由;
從不對人炫耀,也不自我標榜;

如果你有夢想,但不為夢想所左右;
如果你能思考,但思考不是你最終的目標;
泰然處之;
你俯身收拾殘局,重振旗鼓;

永遠不提自己的損失;
只有你的意志力在提醒自己要堅持;

Beyonce - If I Were A Boy

written by Toby Gad & BC Jean

If I were a boy
Even just for a day
I'd roll outta bed in the morning
And throw on what I wanted then go

Drink beer with the guys
And chase after girls
I'd kick it with who I wated
And I'd never get confronted for it.
Cause they'd stick up for me.

If I were a boy
I think I could understand
How it feels to love a girl
I swear I'd be a better man.
I'd listen to her
Cause I know how it hurts
When you lose the one you wanted
Cause he's taken you for granted
And everything you had got destroyed

If I were a boy
I could turn off my phone
Tell everyone it's broken
So they'd think that I was sleepin' alone
I'd put myself first
And make the rules as I go
Cause I know that she'd be faithful
Waitin' for me to come home (to come home)

If I were a boy
I think I could understand
How it feels to love a girl
I swear I'd be a better man.
I'd listen to her
Cause I know how it hurts
When you lose the one you wanted
Cause he's taken you for granted
And everything you had got destroyed

It's a little too late for you to come back
Say its just a mistake
Think I'd forgive you like that
If you thought I would wait for you
You thought wrong

But you're just a boy
You don't understand
Yeah you don't understand
How it feels to love a girl someday
You wish you were a better man
You don't listen to her
You don't care how it hurts
Until you lose the one you wanted
Cause you've taken her for granted
And everything you have got destroyed
But you're just a boy
